Rooms and hallway

• Dust windowsills, shelves and skirting boards.
• Clean areas exposed after furniture is removed.
• Vacuum and mop floors using methods suitable for the material.

Final walkthrough

• Check the balcony, storage and every cupboard.
• Take out rubbish and collect your cleaning supplies.
• Record agreed meter readings and the home’s condition.
• Gather all keys and arrange the handover.

When to clean

The main clean is easier after belongings are removed. If time is tight, clean accessible cupboards and appliances beforehand, then finish cleared areas and floors after loading.

Clean yourself or hire a service

DIY cleaning works when the scope is clear and time remains. When hiring help, provide floor area, room count, condition and photos of difficult areas. Check access to water and electricity.
